Kongonis Cricket

The Kenya Kongonis Cricket Club (also abbreviated as Kenya Kongonis) is a Kenyan domestic cricket club based in the Nairobi Club Ground. Founded in 1927, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious cricket clubs in Kenya. As part of a drive to make Kongonis more accessible to the community, they have established a base at Hillcrest School in Karen.

Rainbow Sports have agreed to run the regular coaching sessions for Kongonis in Karen. Rainbow Sports began as a private coaching initiative in the Karen area and has since grown to run holiday cricket camps. As demand has increased, it has become clear that there is a need for more structured opportunities and improved pathways for participation.

Our goal is to make cricket available to young boys and girls aged 3 to 13 in a format that is simple, enjoyable, and engaging, with a strong emphasis on participation, play, and personal development.

Improved Participation

  • The key aim is to ensure there is a pathway for kids to play more competitive cricket.
  • The regular sessions will develop skills and provide more opportunities for participation.
  • We plan to expand this to more matches and some academy based skill sessions, with the possibility of tours in the future.

Better Sporting Performance

  • Increased practice opportunities can help improve the general standard of cricket, both in schools and clubs.
  • This will form a strong link between the schools, clubs and community coaching – ensuring the same message and philosophy.
